Introduction to Computers
- This is an optional introductory course aimed at those who know little or nothing about computers. You will learn a little about the history of SeniorNet, discover the importance of Microsoft, learn about the key parts of a computer and be given some keyboard and mouse familiarisation. - No matter what you think you know about computers, you should take this course before attempting any other course. It will show you how to start the computer, use the keyboard and mouse, take you step by step through the Windows Operating System which is a fundamental feature of nearly every modern computer. - Learn how to use the most widely used word processing programme in the world. Discover how to produce letters and brochures, add captions, headers, graphics, tables and charts. - This course is vital if you want to understand how to organise and store work on your computer. It will show you how to create a filing system and to find, move, rename and delete files and folders with ease. - Learn how to use this programme to keep in touch with your family and friends by email. Learn how to send and receive letters with Outlook Express, compile an Address Book, check for viruses, forward and receive attachments and other techniques for managing your e-mail. - Learn to Surf the Web and find what you want in this incredible storehouse of information and entertainment, for the latest news and stories behind the world events. - Become familiar with the spreadsheet function, making your own spreadsheet, inserting columns and rows and more. Spreadsheets have numerous practical applications for the home computer.
